Gordon, Vaughn Named 2004 Football MVPs

<strong>LAWRENCE, Kan.</strong> -- Senior center Joe Vaughn and sophomore cornerback Charles Gordon were named KU&rsquo;s offensive and defensive MVP&rsquo;s at the team&rsquo;s annual awards banquet Saturday night in the Kansas Union Ballroom.<br>

Joe Vaughn earned second team All-Big 12 honors (AP and Coaches) in 2004 and was also named second team All-Big 12 by the Kansas City Star and Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Vaughn, who started every game during his two-year career at Kansas after transferring from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, was also named KU’s Offensive Lineman of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Charles Gordon, a record-setting wide receiver last year, led the Big 12 and tied for the national lead with seven interceptions during his first full season on the defensive side of the ball. He was named first team All-Big 12 (AP and Coaches) as a defensive back and also earned honorable mention honors as an all-purpose performer (AP).
