Miles Finalist for Award of Excellence

<strong>ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.</strong> -- University of Kansas senior point guard Aaron Miles has been named one of three finalists for the 2005 Collegiate Basketball Award of Excellence presented by Creamland Dairies, the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Friday.<br>

The award honors college seniors for their athletic and academic achievement as well as their community involvement.

Aaron Miles joins Ronald Ross of Texas Tech and Spencer Nelson of Utah State as this year's finalists.

Miles, a native of Portland, Ore., started all but one game during his career and was instrumental in leading the Jayhawks to three Big 12 Conference regular-season titles. In the NCAA Tournament, Miles led the Jayhawks to one Elite Eight and two Final Four appearances during his time at KU.

In addition, he is the all-time KU and Big 12 career assist leader with a total of 954. In 2005, Miles was named second team All-Big 12 and was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive team for the second-straight season.

Off the court, Miles is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and volunteers in both the University of Kansas area and Portland communities.
