New NCAA legislation allows such events to start earlier the day before the first official practice, which is Oct. 15 for the 2005 season. The 2005 Late Night in the Phog will run from 6:30 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m. Admission is free; doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Fans are encouraged to bring donations of money for hurricane relief efforts. Additionally, fans may donate nonperishable food items, which will help supply local food pantries.
Children 12-and-under will not be admitted without an adult, and the Fieldhouse doors will be closed when the arena reaches capacity.
With the construction of the Booth Family Hall of Athletics in progress on the east side of Allen Fieldhouse, only the north and south entrances will be open for Late Night in the Phog.
The event will feature music by the KU pep band, introductions and scrimmages by the KU men's and women's basketball teams, and much more. Upon entry, all fans will receive a set of thunder sticks courtesy of People's Bank.
Those in attendance will get a first look at the renovations in Allen Fieldhouse, including- a new floor, new scoreboard, new lighting and sound systems, new windows and freshly painted bleachers.
