Jayhawks Call On Jordan

It's been a busy past few weeks for DeAndre Jordan. The Bellaire, TX native has had a number of big time college basketball programs visit him since the open period began.

Among the schools that have visited the 6-foot-10 power forward were Texas, Kansas, LSU, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Arizona, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Florida, and Iowa State

“I liked them,” Jordan said about his in-home visits.  “They talked about their programs and how I would fit in there.”

According to Jordan he hasn’t narrowed his list of schools yet, and no school really made more of an impact than another during the visits.  However the 2007 senior does have offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, G-Tech, UConn, and Baylor.  Jordan also said there were a few other schools that had offered but he couldn’t remember which ones.

While he doesn’t plan on making his decision until next year Jordan did say that coaches would be a big factor in his decision.

“It doesn’t necessarily have to be close to home,” Jordan explained.  How I like the coaches, how I fit in with the players and just how I like the place when I go on my visit is important.”

Jordan did comment on the Kansas Jayhawks and he said that he liked the way Bill Self used Wayne Simien in the offense.

“I like Kansas.  I like the way they let their big men play,” the five-star player said.  “I like the way they used Wayne Simien.  They didn’t just make him stay inside they let him step out and shoot a little bit.”
