After taking and unofficial visit to Lawrence last summer, both Lance Storrs and his Georgia Stars teammate Jeremy Price had planned to return for this weekend’s Late Night activities. Along the way Price, a 6-8 BF/C, committed to Georgia and scratched his visit. However, with a ticket already purchased the 6-5 Storrs will be accompanied by another Georgia Stars teammate.
“We’re excited about Late Night, I’m also bringing Gani Lawal along with us,” said Stars coach Harold Thompson. “We had already bought the ticket for Jeremy and didn’t want to waste it so he decided to come along.”
Kansas fans are already familiar with Storrs who is an athletic and versatile wing. However, Lawal is a player that most Jayhawk fans will be hearing about for the first time. A multi-skilled 6-8 forward from Norcross (GA) High, Lawal can play inside and out and is one of the premier big men in the class of 2007.
It won’t just be Kansas fans who are surprised by Lawal’s visit either, it is going to be a pleasant surprise for the staff.
“I don’t think they even know he’s going to be coming yet,” said Thompson. “It’s going to be a surprise. They haven’t really called about him in the past.”
While it will be a surprise, the Kansas staff is sure to be excited about a top 20 prospect electing to visit them voluntarily. According to Thompson, everybody in their party is excited about the visit.
“We’re just excited about seeing the whole atmosphere,” said Thompson. “We want to see how the team is shaping up and to spend some more time with the players. It will be a good way to see the community and how things are different from the last time we visited.”
