"If I had to choose today..."

If 6-1 Mesquite, Texas speedster Olaitan Oguntodu had to pick a school today, rest assured the Jayhawks would figure prominently in his decision. More inside.

As a junior, Olaitan Oguntodu had 85 tackles, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Oguntodu was named second team all-district. He is being recruited as a free and strong safety. "I have the ability to play a lot of positions on defense," he proclaims. "I am a versatile player."

The defensive prospect says that he has as many as 12 written offers but has narrowed it down to a solid two, "I have offers from Kansas, Oklahoma State, Boston College, Baylor, UTEP, Houston, Tulsa, and a few other schools. But, it is between Kansas and Oklahoma State and I will probably make my decision pretty soon."

Oguntodu has visited Boston College (09/17), Oklahoma State (10/08) and most recently he took a trip to Lawrence (10/29). "I like the program at Kansas. They have a great attitude up there between the players and coaches. They are always in heavy competition playing top schools all the time. I also love the atmosphere. I really like Coach (KU Safeties Coach/Special teams Coordinator Clint) Bowen. He is young and he understands the game. He played safety at Kansas so he knows the position real well. They obviously have a good scheme there since they are one of the top five defenses in the nation. I guarantee you that Vincent Young is thinking about them as he gets ready for the game this weekend. He is thinking about that defense. You heard it here first.

"I love the coaches at Oklahoma State. Coach (OSU Defensive Coordinator Vance) Bedford coached for the Chicago Bears and he coached Charles Woodson at Michigan so he knows his stuff. I am really looking for a coach that is going to make me a student-athlete, as well as help me become a better football player. I feel the coaches at both schools can do that for me. Both schools like me as a safety. The safeties are interchangeable in both defenses so it doesn't matter if I am playing strong or free.

"If I had to choose today I would pick Kansas because I feel more comfortable with them. But luckily, I do not have to choose today so I will take some more time to get it figured out. I will make my pick no later than Thanksgiving because I am an early graduate and will be at either one of those schools in the spring."

Horn had a disappointing season as they missed the playoffs.
