Kansas Athletics to Recognize Ward Family

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas Athletics will recognize the Ward family Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse for their contributions to the newly completed renovations at the Fieldhouse. The recognition will take place immediately prior to the 7 p.m. KU men's basketball exhibition game against Fort Hays State.

"Thanks to the generosity of the Ward family and the Russell Stover Foundation, Allen Fieldhouse has undergone many upgrades and enhancements since the end of last season," KU Athletics Director Lew Perkins said. "As the Fieldhouse enters its second half-century, this generous family has ensured future generations of Jayhawk fans that Allen Fieldhouse will remain the greatest basketball arena in the country."

Enhancements to Allen Fieldhouse include a new playing floor, new lighting system, new scoreboard/video board, new sound system, and new windows and updated safety equipment. Additionally, the bleachers have been painted crimson and blue, the east-side chairback seats have been refurbished, some first-level restrooms have been updated, the inside ceiling has been painted and the outside of the Fieldhouse has been cleaned.
