Lang to Kansas

The Kansas Jayhawks are currently in Fort Worth, Texas in preparation for their showndown against the Houston Cougars tomorrow evening in the Forth Worth Bowl. Their preparation has not stopped them from accumulating further success in the recruiting trails, though, as they gained the commitment of running back D'Marcus Lang (6'2 205) yesterday afternoon.'s Josh Clark offers this free report available to ALL Jayhawk fans............

Before heading into his official visit to Kansas last weekend, Scurry-Rosser running back D'Marcus Lang had expected to make a few official visits in the month of January before making his final decision.

What he saw on his visit to Kansas was enough to convince him yesterday afternoon that he wanted to become a Jayhawk.

"Coach (Clint) Bowen called me to see what was going on with my recruitment," said Lang, who had also officially visited Iowa State. "I told him I was done taking visits. Then, he asked me where Kansas stood on my list, and that is when I told him I was ready to commit and become a Jayhawk."

According to Lang, Bowen reacted as if he had just received his favorite christmas gift.

"He told me he was real happy to have me a part of the Jayhawk program, and with my commitment, they weren't going to sign any other running backs," Lang stated.

In his senior season, through 10 games, Lang rushed for 1312 and 12 touchdowns on 186 attempts. He passed for for 490 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions in completing 14 of 34 passses.

Lang had been told by the Jayhawk staff on his official visit that he was a type of back they currently did not have on their roster.

Lang possesses the combination of size, speed, power, and sdurability that the Jayhawks will need to compete for a Big 12 Championship.

"Coach Bowen said with me they finally have a back who doesn't switch it in and out, and can carry the ball 20 to 25 times a game. He knows I can run between the tackles because I have good vision in finding the holes and the burst to get through there. They plan to use me as a power back," Lang concluded.

Lang is the 19th known commitment for the Jayhawks in the Class of 2006.
