Travis Hearing from the Jayhawks

Quarterback prospect Skylar Travis put up good numbers as a junior playing for his Douglas (KS) team, and now he's getting early interest from Kansas and a number of other schools. More inside.

Skylar Travis, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound, southpaw gunslinger, from Douglass, Kan., is one of the top quarterback prospects in the Sunflower State. Travis reminds me a lot of former Nebraska quarterback Mike Stuntz. Travis put up some terrific numbers as a junior and several schools are starting to get in touch.

"I don't have any scholarship offers right now," Skylar Travis told

"I've been getting a lot of letters. Kansas State, Colorado State, Kansas and Illinois have all been sending hand-written letters.

"My favorites are Colorado State, Tulsa, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Missouri. Those are in no order. I'm obviously open to anyone at this point."

Travis threw for 2,400 yards and 24 touchdowns as a sophomore, his numbers dipped a little bit as a junior, but he still managed 1,700 passing yards, 800 rushing yards, 18 passing touchdowns and six rushing touchdowns.

We asked Travis what his plans for the spring and summer were.

"I'm going to the Nike Combine at Georgia and a few more combines." Travis said.

"I'm going to the "Elite 11" regional combine and I'm also going to the All-American Combine at Louisville on May 20th."

Travis recently attended a junior day at Colorado State. He was named all-area as a junior and carries a 2.85 core GPA in the classroom. Top Stories
