Buse Holds Jayhawk Offer

Wimberley (Tx.) standout Michael Buse has one offer at this point – from Kansas -- which is somewhat surprising given his skill set: The 5-foot-10, 195-pound senior runs a 4.47 40-yard-dash and rushed for 1,300 yards and 17 touchdowns in leading his team to a 15-0 mark and the 3A state title last year.

At this point, though he’s holding out for more offers (Colorado State, Navy and TCU have shown interest), he considering the possibility of becoming a Jayhawk at some point.

“I do like Kansas very much. I’m just not really ready to make a decision right now,” said Buse, who also caught three touchdown passes, made 70 tackles and three interceptions at linebacker and returned two picks for touchdowns.

Buse visited Lawrence in July and liked what he saw of both the town and the program.

“I like the town a lot. It’s a nice place and they’re going to be real strong in a couple of years, and I’d like to be a part of that,” he said.

Buse is classified as an athlete. Some schools are recruiting him as a defensive back, while Kansas is viewing him as a running back, he said. He’s unsure how long the recruiting process will take and when he’ll be ready to choose his future home, opting to go with his gut rather than set a rigid timetable.

“I really have no idea,” he said. “Whenever it feels right.”
