Kansas Verbal Commitments in Action

The future Jayhawks of the class of 2007 are focused on their senior year of high school football. Some teams are hot and some are not. We bring you the latest update of their season and where you can watch your future college stars in action.

Lawrence Free State is home of two solid verbal commitments, Ryan and Brian Murphy, and soft verbal commitment Christian Ballard.

The Firebirds boast a 2-0 record and will host the North Indians (1-1) Friday night at 7:00p.m. The Firebirds have a strong offense beating opponents Leavenworth (60-0) and East (33-28).

The Haven Wildcats, home of verbal commitment Isiah Barfield, are not so fortunate offensively in 2006 losing to Smoky Valley 42-6 and Hillsboro 48-6. This week Haven will travel to Rose Hill.

Chris Tuck has transferred to Mineola, (Texas) from Hillcrest for his senior season. A rough start with a 0-2 season and will host Grand Saline at 7:30p.m. Friday night. Mineola is looking for a win after losing to Quinlan 21-19 and Quitman 48-20.

Drew Dudley's A&M Consolidated in College Station, (Texas) is off to a fast start winning against Leander 17-14 and defeating Pflugeville 31-6. It took a 47-yard field goal to defeat Leander with two minutes to go in the game to come out with a W. Leander had a 47-yard attempt on the last play of the game, but fell short. A&M Consolidated will take on Austin-Westlake at AMC Tiger Field at 7:00 Friday night.

Patrick Dorsey's Lions of Yates High School in Houston, (Texas) lost their season opener to El Campo 30-7, but came back the next week and defeated Willowridge 14-10. After an 8-5 season in 2005, coach Clarence McKinney is looking to add to his win column this week against Madison at Butler Stadium at 7:00p.m.
