KU Survives ISU's Upset Bid

Ames, Iowa - The University of Kansas men's basketball team defeated Iowa State, 68-64, in overtime Saturday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum. Sophomore Brandon Rush made several key baskets, including a game-winning alley-oop dunk in overtime, and finished with 12 points.

Four Kansas players finished in double figures, led by junior Sasha Kaun's 13. Joining Kaun and Rush were sophomore Mario Chalmers, who scored 11, and freshman Sherron Collins, who finished with 10 points off the bench.

Chalmers finished with a career-high seven rebounds and also dished out four assists. Rush added nine rebounds to his line and sophomore Julian Wright recorded a career-high 12 rebounds for the fourth time this season to go along with his seven points.

Kansas found success in the paint, outscoring Iowa State, 40-22 and registering 20 second-chance points in the contest. The Jayhawks held the Cyclones to 37-percent shooting from the field.

Kansas trailed, 30-27, at halftime. Collins led KU with six points as eight different Jayhawks scored in the stanza. Kansas also extended its winning streak to nine games.

The Jayhawks return to the hardwood Monday as they take on Border Showdown rival Missouri from Allen Fieldhouse. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. and the game can be seen on ESPN.
