Kansas Falls to A&M, 69-66

Lawrence, Kan. - Despite 18 points from freshman Sherron Collins and a double-double from sophomore Julian Wright, the University of Kansas men's basketball team (19-4, 6-2) fell to Texas A&M (19-3, 7-1), 69-66, Saturday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Aggies closed the game on a 17-4 run and pulled ahead for good at the :20 second mark on a three-pointer from Acie Law, who finished with a game-high 23 points.

Collins provided a spark off the bench, finishing 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range. Wright finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds, including four on the offensive glass. Sophomore Brandon Rush scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds in the defeat.

The Jayhawks controlled the glass during the game, out-rebounding Texas A&M, 40-29 and 19-8 on the offensive glass. Junior Russell Robinson added eight points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Kansas shot 42 percent from the field (24-of-57) while the Aggies hit for 46 percent during the game (25-of-54).

KU took a 35-30 lead into halftime behind eight points from Collins and seven each from Rush and Wright. The Aggie victory marked the first time a Big 12 South opponent has won in Allen Fieldhouse, and the first victory for Texas A&M against the Jayhawks in the history of the series. KU leads the all-time series 11-1 with every game occurring during the Big 12 era.

The Jayhawks will look to rebound when they host Sunflower State rival Kansas State Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse. Tip-off for the game is slated for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast as part of the Big 12 package on ESPN Plus.
