"I felt like I was at home."

Justin Springer, from Los Fresnos, Texas, inked with the Jayhawks today. Springer was selected as second team All-State in 5A in Texas as a senior. He collected 154 tackles, seven sacks, five forced fumbles and three interceptions. Springer was also selected All-Metro co-defensive MVP and recorded 17 tackles in his last game at Los Fresnos, a play-off loss to Texas 5A runner-up Austin Westlake.

"At KU I felt like I was at home," Justin Springer said of his decision. "I had a better opportunity at KU. It is really good to finally sign my contract. I have my school paid for to play football for the University of Kansas. That is great."

"I am a strong player and very quick. I can really get away from blocks," Springer said of his play at linebacker.

Springer also runs track and plays basketball for Los Fresnos High School. He talked about things he needed to work on before arriving on campus.

"I will work on everything--my speed, quickness, strength, explosiveness. I will work on everything so I will be ready to play. I will redshirt my first year though," Springer concluded.
