Rell Lewis Talks of Kansas

Rell Lewis, from Muskogee, (Okla.), signed his letter of intent with Kansas on National Signing Day. Lewis gave his commitment to the Jayhawks last weekend following his official visit in Lawrence. He talked with about his weekend and his future as a Jayhawk.

"I committed to Kansas on Sunday," Rell Lewis said. "I liked pretty much everything. I liked the facilities, where the program is heading and the academic part."

"I took my official visit last weekend. My host was Darrell Stuckley. I really enjoyed myself. We stayed round some football players. The way they bonded was a big plus for me."

Assistant coach Bill Young was in charge of the new receiver's recruitment, and a good relationship developed.

"Coach Young has been recruiting me for very long time," Lewis said. "Our relationship was pretty good throughout the whole process. I like him a lot."

"They want me to come in and play slot receiver. I feel pretty good about that. I played a little slot my sophomore year. I am familiar with the position."

Lewis knows his strengths and what he hopes to improve before arriving in Lawrence.

"I would say my speed and my strength are my two biggest strengths," he said. "My understanding of the game as well."

"I am going to try to get stronger and faster. I want to get more familiar with the slot position as well."

Lewis maintains a 3.8 GPA and a 22 ACT score. Top Stories
