Will Compton impressed everyone Monday night at the Scout.com combine in Kansas City and it certainly paid off for him. He received 3 big offers this week since returning home from the combine.
These 3 schools now make 4 on the list of schools that have offered the 6’2” 210 pound linebacker. There are many more schools that appear close to offering him soon.
“A lot more schools have talked to me,” Compton added. “Wake Forest might offer tonight when I talk to their linebackers coach. Iowa and Kansas State are close to offering, I think. Notre Dame and Michigan have a few guys ahead of me on their list right now, but Notre Dame might offer after I visit their camp, June 2nd.”
Will showed very well at Monday’s combine. Not only did he run a great 40, 4.50, but he was very impressive when he moved laterally. Unlike many linebackers his age, Will had no problem turning his hips and exploding off his plant foot to stay with his man or hit a gap.
“Since I wrestled so much when I was younger, I think that really helped me move that way,” said Compton.
Compton’s early summer is loaded with camps and visits that should help him decide where he wants to play college football.
“I’ll being going to Elite camp June 14th and to St. Louis for Missouri’s one day camp in June,” said Compton on his upcoming schedule. “I will visit Missouri on May 28th and it’s possible that I might swing over to Kansas State or Kansas that same day. If not, I plan on visiting Kansas in early June.. I will get over to Illinois too.”
Now that Kansas has offered, Will is excited to finally get a chance to see the head man himself, Mark Mangino. Both Coach Mangino and Coach Warinner will be visiting will be at Will’s school tomorrow.
“I don’t know too much about Kansas right now, but I should know more after meeting with the coaches,” said Compton.
With such a busy summer in front of him the former Linebacker MVP of the Nike camp at Purdue University still plans on having a decision by the end of the summer.
“I think I’ll decide by the end of the summer, but you never know. Sometimes things change and if they do I might decide by the end of June.”
