Jamaal Johnson surprised a lot of people last week when he went ahead and pulled the trigger committing to Kansas. The 6’3” 170 pound Wide Receiver from Chavez High School in Houston, wasted little time after Kansas offered.
“Kansas offered about three or four days ago. I just had an opportunity to commit so I did,” said Johnson.
Coach Reagan sure did his homework with Johnson. The little known Wide Receiver is now squarely on the map after his commitment to Kansas. He’s certainly not shy about now being known by Jayhawk fans across the country. According to Johnson, those fans will see a wide range of skills and speed on the field.
“I’m good at beating my defender off the line,” Johnson added. I practice route running a lot and I bring a lot of speed.”
Baylor and Nebraska were also recruiting Johnson. LSU was his dream school, but it was Kansas that presented the best opportunity for Jamaal. Jamaal has his eyes on being the lead receiver at KU, and possibly very soon.
“I have a chance to be the lead receiver. That’s what I’ve been discussing during my recruitment. I’m going to try to visit as soon as I can. Hopefully I can this summer.”
