Kansas Commitment: Ben Lueken

Ben Lueken, Scout.com two-star offensive lineman from St. Louis-Chaminade, (Mo.), was in Lawrence for the Toledo game and gave his commitment after the visit. Lueken talks in-depth of the reasons to become a Jayhawk.

"I went to Kansas for their game against Toledo," Ben Lueken said. "I came back home and thought about it for a few days. After a few days I realized I wanted to be back at Kansas."

"I committed to KU because of the people and where the program is going. I just really love the people there. You can't beat them. Coach [Mark] Mangino, [Ed] Warinner and coach [John] Reagan are hungry. They are looking to build a good program. They are doing that because they are undefeated."

"I don't want to be around people who I don't like or who don't like me. The Kansas coaches are genuine. They are as honest and genuine as you can get."

"The visit for the game was my second visit. I went up there at the beginning of the summer. I met the coaches and toured the facilities. They are upgrading the facilities, and they should be ready by the time I get there in 2008."

"As soon as you get on campus you see the massive buildings and hills. It's awesome. The buildings look like they have a lot of tradition. It's a big campus. I think 30,000 students go there, and 29,000 of them were dressed head-to-toe in blue and red when I was there."

"As soon as you walk up to the stadium it's breath taking. You see the field and the giant bleachers. I was watching the players warm up. They were focused and sharp, but they looked like they were having fun. They were the same way during the game. That was a big decision maker for me. I want to have fun when I am playing the game."

The 6-foot-5 prospect will not look around at other schools as he added, "I have not set up any more visits. It's just KU for me. I have made my commitment, and I am not one to break my word."
