Johnson Cuts it to Five

During the first part of July, Las Vegas (NV) Cheyenne star Elijah Johnson was absent from the grassroots basketball circuit. Choosing to focus on summer school, the 6-2 point guard made his return to the court playing for the Las Vegas Prospects at the Adidas Super 64 in his hometown.

Without question, Johnson is glad to be back on the floor.

“It feels real good to get out there and play,” said Johnson. “I haven’t played ball all summer so it’s fun.”

So far, he feels like his return to the floor has been a successful one.

“I could be doing better, but I’m doing well. I need to get in shape,” Johnson told Phog.Net. “This is the first basketball that I’ve really run up and down the court in a while, I’m excited.”

The opportunity to play in front of friends and family is something that he enjoys, but Johnson also says that as long as he’s on the floor he’s comfortable wherever he may be. It’s something that he thinks will help him when he makes a college decision.

“I feel comfortable everywhere and in any setting,” said Johnson. “So, being comfortable is not a problem for me.”

After entering a holding pattern for a while, Johnson has also cut down his list of schools.

“I’ve got a top five now,” said Johnson. “Texas, UNLV, Kansas, Oklahoma and UCLA. It’s those five, no order.”

With his list set, it’s just a matter of making a decision. According to Johnson it should be coming around the time he gets back into school.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do yet,” said Johnson. “I’m just getting done with all of this summer school stuff and deciding if I want to take official visits. I’ll probably make my decision by the time school starts. I’d really like to have a decision by then.”
