Julian Jones, 6-3, 245, linebacker from lawton-MacArthur, Okla., made 80 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 2008. He was named 5A Linebacker of the Year, All-State and All-District. Why Kansas?

Needs work: "I need to improve my upper-body strength."

Recruiting coach/relationship: "I have an exceptional relationship with Coach Je'Ney Jackson."

Expected to redshirt?: "Based on conversations with the KU coaching staff, their expectations are that I'll be able to step right in and play as a freshman. My desire is to play as a freshman also. However, if I redshirted, it would give me more time to learn and grow with the program."

Why Kansas?: "Based on my previous year's highlight tape and a cover letter, Kansas expressed an enormous amount of interest in me early in the season. They made an early offer to me and expressed how much I would be able to help their program."

"They are also one of the top up-and-coming powers in the Big 12 Conference. I have always dreamed of playing Division-I football. Kansas is also close enough to my hometown that my parents will be able to come and watch me play."
