Head Coach Leon Miller talked more of his star athlete.

"He's a good athlete," Miller said. "He's an intelligent kid. Very talented. He's an explosive kid, better than average speed, great quickness, good jumping ability and those types of things."

"He fought some injuries this year for us, but if he's healthy I think he'll have a great career at the next level."

Coach Miller also talked of the areas of improvement needed before arriving on campus.

"Well he knows it, but he's going to have to get stronger," he said. "That ought to help him stay healthy. I think his strength is not bad, but he knows it's got to be better at the next level."

"The potential," Miller said as the reason KU liked Kelly. "He is a tremendously athletic young man."

"The last time he was fully healthy was his sophomore year, and he was a dominant player on the field when he was healthy. He will be again. He's just fought some health issues, but he's overcoming that."

"I think just the coaching staff and the program," Miller said of Kelly's like for the Jayhawks. "They have turned it into a top program in the nation."

"They are working very hard. Their staff does a great job, and I think he hit off with their staff. It's a couple of hours away from home, and that's a plus too."

Recruiting coach: Kelly was recruited by Brandon Blaney.
