Recruiting coach/relationship: "I was recruited by Coach [David] Beaty. He's real cool. Every time I see him, he doesn't talk much about football. We talk like we are friends. He was the first college coach that I talked to. My mom likes him a lot, too."

Expected to redshirt?: "My goal is to play early or at least knowing that I can play early. My high school coach doesn't want to see me redshirt either. If I do get redshirted, it would give me more time to get school out of the way, practice with the team and adjust to the game."

Why Kansas?: "They were the first school to offer me, and I think that means a lot. I started looking at Kansas and so did my teammates. I went up there a couple of times before I committed."

"It was nice and reminded me of Arlington. It was fun being there and hanging out with the players. It was where I wanted to be."
