"I really saw something I liked."
Statistics: unknown, missed four games as a senior. Additional facts: Riley Spencer earned varsity letters in football (3) and basketball (1); 3.8 GPA, 25 ACT; plans to major in Pre-Med; DOB: 12/11/90; parents are Brent and Sherie Spencer.
Strengths: "For my size, I think I have pretty good footwork. As far as my weight goes, I tend to carry it pretty well. I've also become more of a leader over the past year."
Strength: 315 bench, 415 squat
Needs work: "The first is obviously that I'm still recovering from shoulder surgery, and I'm still trying to get back into working out. The second thing is that our school doesn't pass much at all, so I've been working on my pass blocking."
Recruiting coach/relationship: "The coach that has been dealing with my recruiting is Brandon Blaney. He seems like a great guy and is extremely easy to talk to. He's very energetic, and it's been nice getting to know him. He's very straightforward with everything."
Expected to redshirt?: "Playing early is something to strive for, but I also realize that a redshirt is very typical for offensive linemen. Going through an injury has put a pretty big dent in the amount of time that I've been able to work out."
Why Kansas?: "KU recruited me pretty early, and I really saw something I liked with the coaching staff. They are easy for me to talk to and get along with. I enjoy the atmosphere surrounding the campus."
"I want to enjoy both football and my college experience. My family really supported me with my decision, and I feel strong about it."
