Padgett focusing on season, state title (Updated)

Prior to his injury Friday night, Padgett talked with about his season and his desire to help win a state championship.

On Friday night Padgett injured his knee in a game against Carson. Last January Padgett had dislocated the knee cap on the same Carson court. This ended Padgett's junior season and he did not play competitively for almost four months. This injury is not as serious and Padgett may be able to play in just four weeks. However, it appears unlikely he will be able to complete his senior season.

Just a few days earlier talked with David Padgett. At that time he was unconcerned about injuries and shared his primary goal for the season.

"We really want to win the state championship," said Padgett. The Nevada state tournament begins on February 29th.

"Our school has not done that for over thirty years, so it would be big. I am really focused on that."

In fact, David has been so focused on his season, he has not had much time for anything else.

"Right now my life is pretty much basketball and school. [In the off season] my friends and I do go to Lake Tahoe sometimes. It is only about 15 minutes away," said Padgett.

"I've definitely been keeping up with the Jayhawks. I watch every game I can on television."

Padgett stated he was not working on any particular area of his game.

"I just want to be ready to go when I get to Kansas."
