Quickies: Darnell Jackson

The 6'8 PF answers the Phog Four and talks about the schools he plans to visit.

Telep's Take:

Darnell Jackson is a guy with a tremendous up side. Other big men have bigger national names, but Darnell is a kid who could really explode this summer. He's strong, athletic and really fits the profile of big men that high-major programs seek. Again, others have bigger national profiles, but the summer of 2003 will go a long way toward making him a very recognizable household name.

The Phog Four:

Game superstition: None
Last good book he read: A book on Martin Luther King, Jr.
The class he dislikes most: Science
An athlete he admires: Shaq

The Kansas Connections:

Jackson accompanied his AAU teammates J.R. Giddens and Jeremy Case to last year's Late Night with Roy Williams. Giddens and Case will both be Jayhawks this next season. However, when Jackson was asked if the opportunity to play with his former teammates might effect his decision in any way, he responded decisively. No.

When asked for one word to describe Giddens, Jackson settled on "happy." Jackson characterized Jeremy Case with, "Quiet. You can talk to him."

The Usual Stuff

"My strengths are rebounding and scoring," said Jackson. "I am working on my jump shot."

Jackson reports New Mexico, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State are a few of the schools that have been out to watch him play this season.

"I don't have a strong leader right now," said Jackson.

He plans to visit New Mexico, Purdue, and Oklahoma.
