Versatility is One of Lineman's Strengths

Person High School's Tre Robertson is a big kid, and even though he is not the most athletic player in the pack, he is a mauler.

Tre Robertson is someone who will stand out in a crowd, which is to be expected when you are 6'5" and weigh 317 lbs?  The big question at the next level is not what position Tre will play, but what side of the ball he will be on.

"I like the d-line, but o-line might be where I end up when I get to college," Robertson said.

He is capable of doing both, and his favorite player to watch is not even on offense.

"I really like Julius Peppers.  He is really big but he is also really fast, and nobody wants to line up against a guy like that."

Not many people want to line up against the lineman from Roxboro, NC either.  Robertson excels at several things, and one of them could not be more obvious when watching his film.

"I like to lay people out.  I am good in pass protection but I can hit pretty hard.  Getting those pancakes feel good, but not for the guy who is on the ground after the play is over."

There are several schools that are interested in the massive prospect, but who might be leading for his services?

"UNC and ECU are two of my favorites, but South Carolina, N.C. State, Duke, and Kansas are up there too.  All of them are great football programs, and I could see myself at any of those.  I am a big UNC fan, and I always have been.  East Carolina offered me first, and with a school like USC, I have always liked the SEC."

So far, Tre holds offers from East Carolina, Kansas, Ohio, and Miami (OH).  One of the biggest factors in Robertson's decision is early playing time.

"It would be nice to see the field early on, but I want to go into the best environment for me too."

If given the chance to wear whatever number he wanted to in college, that number would be #62.  Why would Tre pick #62?

"62 has always been my number, and it would be pretty neat to have that when I suit up at the college level."

With his senior season ahead of him, there are exciting times to be had.  It is not known when he will make his decision, but Tre will be camping at some schools this summer.

"As of right now I will be camping at UNC, N.C. State, Duke, and USC.  I am definitely looking forward to it." Top Stories
