McAlester will travel to state tourney

Jeremy Case and the McAlester Buffalos qualified for the 5A state tournament after defeating Coweta. Earlier in the area tournament the Buffalos earned a 62-53 victory over TSST and 78-52 victory over Tulsa Edison.

Case scored 24 points against Tulsa Edison, making him second in all-time scoring for large schools in the state of Oklahoma. Case is the forst player in McAlester history to score more then 500 points for three consecutive seasons.

Loyola playing for division championship

Omar Wilkes and the Loyola Cubs face Canyon Springs in the Division IA championship game Saturday evening at 6:30 pm. Loyola last played Canyon Springs in early December, defeating them 96-85.

To make it to this final game, Loyola won the following match ups:

  • March 4th, 73-69 victory over the Capistrano Valley. (Omar Wilkes' had 20 points)
  • February 28th, 85-69 victory over Chaparral. (Omar Wilkes had 23 points and six rebounds.)
  • February 25th, 77-58 victory over Lancaster. February 21st, 79-47 victory over Thousand Oaks.

    If Loyola wins the CIFF IA championship tonight, the Cubs will then advance to the state play offs.

    John Marshall in must-win game

    J.R. Giddens had 19 points in a 68-58 loss to Ardmore on Friday. A win tonight means John Marshall would be the runner up in the area tournament and still advance to the 5A state tournament.

    Last weekend John Marshall defeated El Reno 68-41 and Harrah 77-27. Giddens had 13 and 23 points in those games.
