"I spent a lot of time in the weight room. I just tried to get bigger and stronger really and quicker at the same time. I tried to take off a lot of my body fat. Getting better physically over the summer was one of my main goals," Miller said.
"Coach Cal did not really give me anything specific to get better on over the summer. He just wanted all of us to get better at everything. I just tried to spend a lot of time getting stronger, quicker and more athletic really. I spent a lot of time in the weight room and gym. Hopefully it will pay off."
He worked some with strength coach Ray "Rock" Oliver, the man credited for helping change attitudes on the UK football team.
"He is tough, real tough. It is definitely going to benefit us in the long run, especially the guys who have got stronger and quicker like me," Miller said.
That's because he knows he may well have to rebound a lot more this year.
"Last year we had DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson and Daniel Orton. We really didn't have to do a lot of rebounding," Miller said. "We just had to keep our guy off the glass and they were going to go get it. This year we don't have a dominant presence right there that will get every rebound, so we all have to do our part."
