Joe Dean: "My personal opinion is Tennessee, but I noticed they are picked fourth in the East by the media. Either the selected media that voted is as dumb as I think they are or I am not very smart. One or the other and we are going to find out.
"Tennessee went to the final eight last year and point away from the Final Four. Granted they lose Prince and Chism, but they are loaded athletically and they have two big-time freshmen coming in. And Bruce Pearl is a great coach. I like Tennessee as the best team.
"You always have to say what about Kentucky obviously. I think there is no doubt Kentucky is going to be talented. They are all brand new and they don't have Patrick Patterson to keep them all together, so there is a question mark on them certainly. Kentucky is always a threat.
"I like Vanderbilt, too. They lost two good players, but they are loaded with returning guys who have a lot of experience in this league and I think Jeffery Taylor might be the best player in the SEC. Those are the three teams I like. "Then Florida, the team the selected media picked to win the league. I don't like Florida as much. I think they are very finesse. I would like to see them be more power to go with finesse.
"Then you look at Georgia and they may have two of the top five players in the league in Leslie and Trey Thompkins. The East is loaded. The West is a grab bag. I would pick Mississippi State just on their success in the past and this kid Renaldo Sidney is supposed to be an all-world player inside and they have great shooters on the outside, so I like them in the West."
