Former Cat signs D-League contract

Ramon Harris has signed a player contract with the National Basketball Developmental League (NBDL) and has been allocated to the league's Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Washington, DC, November 1, 2010 – Capitol Sports Management LLC announced today its client Ramon Harris has signed a player contract with the National Basketball Developmental League (NBDL) and has been allocated to the league's Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In the NBDL, players sign contracts with the league which then allocates players to teams or enters players into the league draft.

The RGV Vipers were last year's NBDL champions and are the NBDL affiliate of the Houston Rockets. "It's a blessing to have the opportunity to continue playing basketball at a professional level" said Harris.

My goal is to play the game at its highest level in the NBA and the D-League provides a great opportunity for me to develop my game and be seen by NBA scouts every night.

" "I am excited for Ramon to have the opportunity to play in the D-League" added CSM's Odell McCants, Harris's agent. "Ramon's experience as a key contributor on a University of Kentucky team that had five NBA first round draft picks gives him the personal competitiveness needed to excel at the next level.

Additionally, having played for three coaches in four years at Kentucky (Tubby Smith, Billy Gillespie, and John Calipari) Ramon understands adapting to change and has the ability to contribute to a team in a variety of ways."

During his career at Kentucky, the 6-7 guard/forward averaged 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 16 minutes per game. Ramon's best year as a Wildcat came during his junior campaign when he averaged 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds, and started in 28 of the 31 games played that season. In his senior season, Ramon was a key contributor on a team that featured five NBA first round draft picks and reached the NCAA tournament's Elite Eight round.
