Fans remember

I am to the point that I do worry about who may or may not know me. It's just to that point. I have been out of school for 24 years. A lot of kids in high school and college obviously were not born when I played.

During Kentucky's exhibition game with Dillard, one of the Committee of 101 members asked me if he could introduce me to a young lady he had promised last year he would introduce to DeMarcus Cousins and never did.

I agreed and told her, "I am sorry. I am not DeMarcus Cousins. You just have to settle for some old, washed up, 6-8 skinny kid from Georgia." That's the truth, too. He really had promised her she could meet DeMarcus, but she had to settle for Sky Walker.

She looked to be in her mid-20's, but at least she knew who I was. Maybe only in name only, but I was at least glad she knew who I was. She was very nice and made me feel special, so hopefully I made her feel special.

But here is the impressive thing about it and Kentucky basketball. When I introduce myself to some of the younger people, maybe they didn't see me play but their parents or grandparents did see me play so they know the name. About 90 percent of the time when I tell them Kenny Walker, they say, "Kenny Walker." They didn't see me play, but they heard about me and know the name. At my age, that's good enough.
