Jones headed home

Terrence Jones is headed home, as the Cats are slated to take on Portland. This is one road trip that is special for Jones. The freshman said, "The trip will mean a lot. It's always good to have the chance to play in front of my mom and grandma and show them how much I've improved since high school, and as a college player."

Kentucky freshman forward Terrence Jones is excited to be headed home, as the Kentucky Wildcats travel to Oregon to take on Portland Friday evening.

Jones indicated what the trip means to him. Jones said, "The trip will mean a lot. It's always good to have the chance to play in front of my mom and grandma and show them how much I've improved since high school, and as a college player."

Jones discussed how his game has changed since he left home to play basketball for John Calipari at Kentucky.

"I've improved a lot on my shot, and playing harder," said the freshman.

Coach Calipari has spoken with Jones on his playing at home. Jones said of Calipari, "Mainly just to stay focused on the game, and not worry about who is in the crowd. He's just told me to go out there and play basketball."

The Kentucky coach sees the homecoming in a different light. Coach Cal said, "Yeah, he and I talked about that. He came in and I told him that I have never had a player go home and play well, so good luck. I mean, naturally, he is just happy we are going."
