Knight named SEC Freshman of the Week

The Kentucky Wildcats continue to dominate the SEC Freshman of the Week honors. With Brandon Knight being named last week's winner of the award the Wildcats racked up their fourteenth award since John Calipari arrived at Kentucky.

Brandon Knight became the recipient of the third SEC weekly award of the young season when he was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.

The award is the first of the season for Knight, and third for UK this year. Knight is the fifth Wildcat to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors since the beginning of last season.

Terrence Jones has been named the SEC Freshman twice this season. Last season the Wildcats won the award eleven times, led by John Wall's five, DeMarcus Cousins' four and Eric Bledsoe won it twice.

Knight, the talented guard from Ft. Lauderdale, averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in wins over #23 Notre Dame and longtime rival Indiana.

Against Notre Dame in Louisville's Freedom Hall the 6-3 Kentucky freshman recorded his fourth 20-point effort this season. In the win over Indiana, Knight scored five points and pulled down five rebounds over the final 10 minutes to help UK come from one-point down to pull away for the 81-62 win on a game ending 25-5 run. Knight was perfect at the free throw line against the Hoosiers, going 10-10. Knight has hit his last 14 attempts and cashed in on 19 of his last 20 from the charity stripe.

Kentucky returns to action on Saturday, December 18th as they host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. ET tip and can be seen live on CSS.
