National recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons tweeted the following today: Headed to the Nike Peach Jam. Prediction: 6-8 PF Robert Carter, Thomasville, GA, will commit soon to Kentucky. Remember where you heard it first!. If Gibbons' prediction, undoubtedly the result of some inside scoop he received, turned out to be true, that would be huge for Kentucky.

At 6-foot-9, 245 lbs, Carter is rated 5-stars by Scout.com, the 7th highest rated center in the class. Scout.com's player evaluation reads: Carter isn't going to wow you with his athleticism, but he certainly will with his soft hands, ability to finish and touch around the basket. He emerged as a big name during the spring in between his sophomore and junior seasons. A high major recruit, Carter is one of the better low post prospects in the 2012 class because of his ability to score and overall presence in the paint.

A July verbal from Carter would be somewhat of a surprise. Back on July 22 Carter told Yellowjackets.com, "I'll probably decide during my basketball season or, maybe even late summer. I don't know." He went on to say he had no favorites at that time. Carter has been attracting a lot of big name coaches of late, including North Carolina's Roy Williams and UK's John Calipari.
