Offensive lineman Larry Warford and linebacker Danny Trevathan were named to the first-team 2011 SEC Media Days preseason All-SEC team, and punter Ryan Tydlacka was named to the third team. The three players named tied for the lowest number by any school, matching Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Alabama led all schools with 16 selections, including nine on the first team alone. Arkansas followed closely with 14 picks, and South Carolina added 10.
Kentucky was picked to finish 5th in the SEC East, although the Wildcats drew one first place vote from the media. The predicted order of finish for the SEC East had South Carolina winning the division, followed by Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. In the West, Alabama was the nod, followed by LSU, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Ole Miss.
