UK junior wing undergoes knee surgery

Jon Hood underwent reconstructive surgery today to repair the ACL he tore in mid-July, according to Kentucky coach John Calipari.

Kentucky's Jon Hood underwent surgery today to repair the ACL he tore earlier in the summer.

Kentucky coach John Calipari tweeted this evening, "(Hood's) already home after morning surgery. Jon said he feels good and thanks all for their support."

No official timeline has been given for Hood to return to the court but the prevailing thinking is that he will sit out the season as a medical redshirt to rehabilitate the knee, then return next fall as a redshirt junior.

Prior to the injury Hood had added muscle to his 6-7 frame in the off season and increased his weight to 215 pounds. The added muscle would enable him to compete with stronger wing players.

Calipari said after Hood's injury that the team would miss his veteran leadership.
