Bobby Perry Q & A

BBN Media recently spoke with UK signee and Durham, North Carolina native Bobby Perry.

BBN: Bobby, you signed with UK during the early signing period in the fall. After having several months to reflect on your decision, is UK still the right choice for you?

BP: Oh, yeah real excited. With Sheray Thomas, Shagari Alleyne, and myself coming next season I think we have a real good chance to do well. With the players returning from last year's team I think we can compete for the national championship. Just to play at a program like Kentucky in Rupp Arena. Only a couple people get that opportunity, so you have to take advantage of it. There's no better place to play than Rupp Arena so I'm real excited.

BBN: What are you most looking forward to as you enter your freshman season?

BP: Just having the opportunity to learn and to play basketball. I love basketball and I play every chance I get. I want to learn from the coaches and my teammates.

BBN: Since you signed during the Fall, did you try to persuade other recruits to come to UK?

BP: No, I really didn't. I leave the recruiting up to the coaches. I'm just here to play basketball. I have faith in the coaches that they're going to put together a quality team that has good chemistry. I'll just leave the recruiting up to Coach Smith and the rest of the staff.

BBN: Where do you see yourself fitting in on next year's team?

BP: I don't know. I can play all over. I'll play wherever Coach Smith wants me to play. I'll do whatever Coach needs me to do in order to win the game.

BBN: There's a possibility that UK could be ranked #1 in next year's preseason poll. Is that something that you've thought about?

BP: It would be an honor to be ranked #1 in the preseason poll. I'd be thrilled. It's more important where you end the year though. If we're ranked #1, we'll have to work harder because everyone will be coming after us. Going from high school to a place like UK, especially if we're ranked #1, is going to be a huge challenge.
