LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three University of Kentucky football players, including seniors Danny Trevathan and Ryan Tydlacka and sophomore Joe Mansour, have been named honorable mention players of the week by the College Football Performance Awards for their impressive performance in Kentucky's win against Central Michigan on Saturday.
Trevathan was named Honorable Mention Linebacker of the Week after recording 13 tackles, three tackles for loss and his first career interception against Central Michigan. The native of Leesburg, Fla., has recorded 13 tackles in both games this season and currently leads the Southeastern Conference in tackles with 26 stops.
Tydlacka was named Honorable Mention Punter of the Week after he punted three times last Saturday, averaging 49.3 per kick and pinning CMU within its own 20-yard line once. The native of Louisville, Ky., has been fantastic in Kentucky's first two games with 10 punts for an average of 47.8 yards and four punts inside the 20-yard line. Tydlacka's average puts him second in the SEC, while the Wildcats rank first in the conference in punting as a team. This is the second honorable mention honor for Tydlacka in as many weeks.
This is also the second consecutive week that Mansour has been named Honorable Mention Kickoff Specialist of the Week. Against CMU, Mansour had six kickoffs and three touchbacks, increasing his season totals to nine kickoffs and four touchbacks. Behind Mansour's impressive kicking, Kentucky ranks first in the SEC in kickoff coverage with 50.9 net yards per kickoff.
Kentucky returns to action on Saturday when the Wildcats face in-state rival Louisville at 7 p.m. ET at Commonwealth Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
