Lukasz Obrzut headed to Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats have landed another seven-footer. Lukasz Obrzut, a former Fordham commitment, is headed to Lexington. We saw him play at the War On The Shore.

With Shagari Alleyne already in the fold, the Wildcats were going to get bigger next season. Now, they'll have there will be a pair of towers lining the Lexington basketball horizon.

Lukasz Obrzut, a 7-1 center from Bridgton Academy signed with the Wildcats. The 240-pound Obrzut originally selected Fordham but with a change in coaches, that commitment fell through and he signed with Kentucky after visiting the Lexington campus last week.

We saw the native of Poland at an event last November in Delaware. He played with Bridgton at the War on the Shore. At the time, we rated him a solid mid-major prospect and didn't get to see him at any point in the remainder of the year.

Some of our notes on him read: "Catch, turn and hit 8-footer … slightly mechanical, but long … upper body is stiff … likes to pop out … ran floor for dunk with one hand … likes perimeter and has touch …"

The Pole has talent. The question is how long will it take before he can play meaningful minutes for the Wildcats and just what style of play UK will employ should it use both its seven-footers?
