Two Cats named to preseason All America team

Terrence Jones and Anthony Davis make Blue Ribbon's preseason All America team

Blue Ribbon announced this week that Kentucky sophomore forward Terrence Jones and freshman forward Anthony Davis have been named to the Blue Ribbon All-America teams.

Jones was a first team selection by Blue Ribbon. Last season coaches selected Jones as the 2011 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year and he was named the SEC Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press. Jones averaged 15.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He ranked seventh in scoring and led the league in rebounding.

Jones had an eventful freshman campaign. He set the UK freshman single-game scoring record with 35 points against Auburn. Jones also had 13 double-doubles, which ranks second most among UK freshmen all-time. He also had eight 20-point games, which was the fourth most by a freshman in program history.

Freshman Anthony Davis was a fourth-team selection by Blue Ribbon.

The 6-foot-10 native of Chicagoan was one of only two freshmen named to any of the four All-America teams.

During his final year of high school Davis averaged 32 points, 22 rebounds, and seven blocked shots for Chicago's Perspectives Charter High School. His outstanding performance garnered Davis a spot on the Parade first team prep All-America team last year. Davis was also named to the prestigious Nike All-American team.
