Madness list of '12 guards short, part 2

The 2012 guards set to visit Kentucky this weekend for Big Blue Madness is short, but oh so sweet. The UK staff will be entertaining two guards for BBM, and KSR will preview the scheduled attendees in a two-part series. Batting cleanup is Shabazz Muhammad.

Shabazz Muhammad will be joining combo guard Archie Goodwin as one of two 2012 guard recruits planning to attend Big Blue Madness.

Muhammad is Scout's top ranked player in his class. Scout lists him as a small forward, but the word on the street is he is being recruited as a wing guard to complement Goodwin.

Kentucky's John Calipari has developed a reputation for playing guys with similar positions together in order to maximize the talent he has on the floor at any given time.

Scout's evaluation of Muhammad states, "Talented wing prospect that has a unique scoring ability. He's constantly in attack mode and is an aggressive scorer. His long range shot is getting better, but he does majority of his work from mid-range and in. He's also confident enough in his post game to take defenders to the block and show a jump hook. We'd like to see him continue to develop range on his shot, but he's a heck of a prospect with an impressive motor."

Muhammad's game would compliment Goodwin's game very well. Goodwin's shooting would spread defenses and make Muhammad's slice and dice offensive game more potent.

Muhammad told The Devil's Den, Scout's Duke site, "Midnight Madness (at Kentucky) is a fun thing that I'm looking forward to experiencing, but I've been to Kentucky before last year and that's a big reason why I scheduled my official visit to Kentucky to be (during) Midnight Madness.

Muhammad places great importance on facilities. He wants to workout, train and live in top notch facilities. Those criteria certainly aid Kentucky in his recruitment given the Craft Center and Wildcat Lodge are some of the best facilities in the land.

Kentucky, UCLA and Duke appear to be the top contenders for the services of Muhammad.
