VAUGHT: One on One with Faulkner

Faulkner: "It has been going okay. I am still trying to learn the defense and that's been a little harder than I?thought it would be."

Question: How do you feel the season has gone for you?

Faulkner: "It has been going okay. I am still trying to learn the defense and that's been a little harder than I?thought it would be."

Question: Have you been disappointed you have not played more after you gained your eligibility?

Faulkner: "It is not very disappointing, but I am not used to being on the field.?I am still in the learning process. Until I?learn it, I ain't going to be able to get on the field."

Question: Were your expectations for yourself higher this year than what your playing time has been?

Faulkner: "Yes. I thought I would play more. But it is a much quicker pace here. It's just learning the formations that has been hard. I am seeing a light. It is coming quicker than I?thought now."

Question: Has anybody in particular been a bigger help to you?

Faulkner: "All the defensive backs. Every defensive back on the team has helped me. When I?am out there, they put me in the right place."

Question: Has it helped mentally to at least be playing on special teams?

Faulkner: "It is helping so I can get used to the college atmosphere and speed of the SEC."

Question: Has it been hard to be not playing with the team not winning?

Faulkner: "It is tough, but we have to battle through it. We are going to get through it."

Question: Did you consider redshirting this season since you have not played an abundance?

Faulkner: "When I first got here, I thought I was going to learn the defense quicker than I did. If I had known that, I probably would have redshirted."

Question: When fans get to see you play, what will they see from you?

Faulkner: "They will see a leader on the field. When I get on the field, I am a leader. I'm a hitter. It's true that I like to hit. I love the game."

Question: What drew you to Kentucky?

Faulkner: "All the coaches, the players. I came down here on my official (visit) with (safety) Ashley Lowery. We hung out."

Question: How good can you and Lowery be together the next three years?

Faulkner: "That is going to be be nice. Now Ashley is a hitter for real. He is a big-time hitter. He is about 212. He's a big kid. I have put on 20 pounds. I was at 179 when I?got here, but I?am about 200 now."

Question: How have you added weight during the season?

Faulkner: "Lifting weights and doing extra workouts in my room."

Question: Do you still feel good about the future here?

Faulkner: "I am still encouraged. I like what I see here and feel good about our future."
