Rajon Rondo proving to be the best PG in NBA?

Boston Celtic Rajon Rondo is one of a few elite point guards in the NBA. With apologies to guys like Chris Paul, Rondo served notice today that he may be "the" best the NBA has to offer this season.

Rondo shook off preseason trade rumors with a 31-point, 13 assist, five steal performance against the New York Knicks today in a 106-104 opening day loss. Rondo, a career 10.7 point per game, 7.6 assists, nearly tripled his scoring average, and nearly doubled his assists as he showed that the Celtics will be his team this season.

Will Rondo repeat this performance game in and game out? It's hard to replicate this level, but Knick's coach Doc Rivers wasn't counting it out, according to an ESPN report. "This is the Rondo we want," Rivers said after the game. "This is what we talked about last year. I don't know if [he] can do that every night, but overall, that's the Rondo that we want. It was terrific."
