LEXINGTON – Big Blue Nation will serve as title partner for next week's Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Baseball Tournament, Commissioner Brigid DeVries has announced. The event, scheduled for June 18-21 at Applebee's Park in Lexington shall officially be referenced as the Big Blue Nation/KHSAA State Baseball Tournament.
This marks first time the Association and its marketing partner iHigh, Inc. have secured title partnership for the State Baseball Tournament and only the third time an Association State Championship has honored such a deal.
"We are excited about our partnership with Big Blue Nation for the State Baseball Tournament," Commissioner Brigid DeVries said. "They were involved with the KHSAA during our boys' and girls' state basketball tournaments and really stepped up to the plate for our baseball championship. The continued and increased involvement shows a true commitment to high school sports ."
"We are honored and delighted to be the first-ever title sponsor of the KHSAA State Baseball Championship Tournament," said Brian Poe, CEO for Big Blue Nation. "This aligns perfectly with our charter to promote and support Kentucky High School Athletics and establish Big Blue Nation as the most powerful name in Kentucky Sports."
"With the expansion to eight teams and a four day format, a first class facility in Applebee's Park and the Big Blue Nation partnership, our baseball championship has hit a new level," DeVries concluded.
The KHSAA has an agreement with Houchens Industries for 2003-06 for title partnership of its Girls' Sweet 16® State Basketball Tournament. In 1999, Valvoline served as title partner for the Boys' & Girls' State Soccer and State Football Championships.
