Florida's Beal on Kentucky's freshmen

"To an extent their play has surprised me this year because those guys have all got a lot better. Coach Cal is a great coach and he has really pushed those guys to the limit, and it shows," Beal said after Kentucky beat Florida by 20 points last week.

Florida freshman Brad Beal knows all about Kentucky's talented freshman foursome. He was teammates with them in various all-star games and played for Team USA with Anthony Davis, Marquis Teague and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

He was also heavily recruited by Kentucky coach John Calipari before settling on the Gators.

Yet, Beal is the first to acknowledge the improvement he's seen from Teague,?Kidd-Gilchrist and Davis.

"To an extent there play has surprised me this year because those guys have all got a lot better. Coach Cal is a great coach and he has really pushed those guys to the limit, and it shows," Beal said after Kentucky beat Florida by 20 points last week. "They have got a lot better from what I?have seen since playing with them over the summer. Those guys are really improving and tonight it really showed. They were just a lot better than even I?anticipated."

What specifically has changed about Davis?

"He is a lot more athletic. He is more agile. He is not falling over like he used to. I?mean, he bulked up a little bit even if you can't see it," Beal said. "He's a lot more physical, a lot stronger than he used to be. He was always good, but bulking up and getting stronger has just made him even better. I hear people talk about him not being physical, but they must not be playing against him. He's plenty strong."
