Kentucky should be one of three schools that gets an official visit from Columbus (Ohio) Eastmoor tight end/defensive end Devon Edwards this fall.
"We've had good conversations, mostly in e-mail lately," he said of the UK staff. "They want me to get back down there for an official visit. We should talk more about it when they can actually call again on Sept. 1, but Kentucky is one of the schools that I should be visiting int he fall."
"Pittsburgh and Nebraska," said Edwards, who is still trying to decide what schools may get the final two spots.
Edwards (6-5, 240) says he doesn't have a favorite yet. "I'm still trying to sort all of that out, but I feel like I'm getting a little bit closer."
He also holds offers from West Virginia, N.C. State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Purdue and Toledo. Michigan State and Wisconsin have expressed interest in the two-way athlete who had five touchdown receptions and 10 sacks as a junior.
Asked what he liked about Kentucky when he made an unofficial visit this summer, Edwards said: "I liked the combination of the football program and the academics most of all. Plus, the fan base. They have really good fans."
Edwards and his Eastmoor squad open the 2012 season on Friday against Columbus Northland. He's expected to play both ways as a senior.
"I'm ready for it," he said. "I've been working real hard all summer on my conditioning."
