It was a rough day on the field for the Wildcats as they fell to in-state opponent Western Kentucky. Nevertheless Nacarius Fant enjoyed his visit and was impressed with what he saw.
"It went real well," said Fant of his visit. "The coaches and everybody were good to me. And I got to meet them all," he said.
Fant, a wide receiver, also specifically enjoyed meeting with receiver's coach Pat Washington.
"I also met the wide receiver coach, Coach Washington is a really good guy," he said. "They walked me around the indoor practice facility which was really nice."
While Fant left without a scholarship offer, the staff did let him know how important of a recruit he was for their 2014 class.
"They didn't really talk about offering," he said. "But they really want me, I think. They said I was one of the top, if not the best player they are recruiting for the 2014 class," Fant continued.
Kentucky's receiver play was also interesting for Fant. He felt some familiarity with what he saw the players doing and with how the staff instructed them.
"With me having a coach (Tyler Siddens) who played receiver for Kentucky and got all the footwork from Coach Joker (Phillips), it was pretty cool to see in person," he said. "The things we did were similar to what are being taught," he continued.
Being one of the best players in Kentucky, the Wildcats will definitely be on Fant's trail over the next year and a half. But they won't be alone.
Fant plans on taking a trip to Illinois this weekend and on October 6th, he's hoping to visit Ohio State for a game. He's already holding an offer from Western Kentucky as well as the aforementioned Illinois.
