It appears to be a battle between Big Ten and SEC programs for three-star Canton (Ohio) McKinley defensive end Antoine Miles in the final month of the recruiting process.
"Right now, it's Kentucky and Purdue," Miles said. "Those are the only two I have visits set up with, and it will likely be one of them."
Miles (6-3, 265) was previously committed to Nebraska, but re-opened the process when the Cornhuskers' Vince Marrow took a job on Mark Stoops' new staff at Kentucky. The immediately put the Wildcats in the mix, and he'll be visiting Lexington next weekend.
"I'm looking forward to seeing everything," Miles said. "I have a good relationship with coach Marrow, so I just want to see what the campus is like, how I fit in with the coaches and players, that type of thing. I've heard good things about their program."
He'll head to Purdue on Jan. 18 for an official visit with the Boilermakers.
"I like the fact that it's a Big Ten program and they are recruiting me strictly as a defensive end," Miles said. "There's an opportunity for some early playing time there."
Miles said some other programs that had offered scholarships mentioned the possibility of him moving inside to defensive tackle. "I didn't like that," he added. "I want to play on the edge. Both Purdue and Kentucky say they want me as a defensive end."
Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Indiana had also previously been involved with Miles, who recorded 73 tackles (17 TFL) and 12 sacks as a senior. He earned second-team Ohio all-state honors.
