Kentucky's A'dia Mathies was named to The Associated Press All-American team on Tuesday as a second-team selection.
It marked the second consecutive year that Mathies, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, was named to the AP squad. She was also the SEC Player of the Year for the second straight year.
Mathies helped lead UK to a school-record 30 wins this season and its third trip to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight in the last four years.
The Louisville, Ky., native led UK in scoring at 16.1 points per game this season and finished as only the second player in program history to eclipse the 2,000-point mark for a career. Her 2,014 career points rank behind only Valerie Still, who scored 2,763 from 1979-83.
It marks the fourth consecutive season that a UK player has been named to the AP All-American team. Victoria Dunlap was named to the third team in 2010 and 2011 prior to Mathies' honors the last two years.
