Kentucky got a strong start from senior left-hander Jerad Grundy and a career-high three hits from freshman outfielder Kyle Barrett on Tuesday en route to a 4-1 win over Wright State at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
The Wildcats (28-19) plated a pair of runs in the first inning and added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh inning to support Grundy's effort on the mound. Grundy (6-5) allowed only one run, struck out five and walked none.
The UK bullpen made the lead stand up as Walter Wijas, Chandler Shepherd and Trevor Gott worked the final four innings. Gott recorded his school-record 11th save with a routine ninth inning.
Kentucky has allowed only 13 earned runs over the last five games, including four of those against Top 25 clubs.
Wright State (20-24) used six pitchers in the mid-week clash. Starter Cody Kipilchack (1-1) took the loss for the Radiers.
UK returns to action Friday for a weekend series against No. 1 Vanderbilt at Cliff Hagan Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET.
